Senior Software Engineer – Digital Payments

About the role

Mastercard’s Network & Digital Payments group is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop and validate high‑quality software that powers global digital payment experiences. The role focuses on building scalable, secure and resilient solutions while ensuring strong testability and operational excellence. You will ensure the software meets Mastercard’s high standards for security, performance and resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software components, automation frameworks and engineering tools.
• Create and enhance automated tests for unit, functional, integration, API, UI, regression and end‑to‑end validation.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions emphasizing scalability, reliability, performance and security.
• Write robust test automation using Java, Spring, JUnit, Rest Assured, JBehave or Cucumber.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to improve code quality and adherence to standards.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, DevOps, product owners and program teams to deliver business‑aligned solutions.
• Produce technical artifacts such as design notes, test strategies, automation plans and operational readiness documentation.
• Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated checks into Jenkins, Bamboo, Git workflows and static analysis tools.
• Identify gaps across testing levels and propose improvements.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with hands‑on Java development experience.
• Quality‑first mindset and ability to build automation frameworks.
• Experience working in large‑scale, production‑critical environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated testing frameworks.
