Senior Software Engineer – AI/ML Integrations

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer focusing on AI & ML integrations, you will own and evolve critical parts of ClickHouse's AI ecosystem. You will bridge high‑performance database engineering with developer experience, building tools that let engineers and data scientists leverage ClickHouse at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve ClickHouse's Python connector and SDK ecosystem, improving performance, reliability, and API design.
• Drive the AI/LLM integration strategy, designing connectors for RAG architectures, feature pipelines, and LLM‑powered applications.
• Engage with the open‑source community: triage issues, support contributors, and shape the roadmap based on real‑world feedback.
• Collaborate with Product, Cloud, and other engineering teams to align integration work with platform priorities.
• Provide a practitioner’s perspective to roadmap decisions, grounding priorities in genuine data‑engineer and data‑scientist workflows.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software development experience, including hands‑on work as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining production‑grade Python connectors or SDKs.
• Hands‑on experience applying AI/ML in production data‑engineering contexts such as embedding generation, vector search, or LLM‑powered tooling.
• Strong knowledge of the Python data ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, Pydantic) and solid database fundamentals (SQL, data modeling, query optimization).
• Experience with concurrent Python (threading, multiprocessing, async) and excellent communication skills.
