Senior Software Development Engineer

About the role

BusPatrol is modernizing student transportation safety with a cloud‑native Automated Safety Platform. As a Senior Software Development Engineer you will lead the transition from a legacy monolith to scalable micro‑services, delivering secure, high‑performance experiences for millions of families.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering efforts to decompose monolithic applications into modular micro‑services.
• Design, develop, and maintain clean, well‑tested code in backend (Python, Ruby) and frontend (React, Angular) stacks.
• Build and evolve secure, high‑performance APIs supporting real‑time data pipelines and customer‑facing applications.
• Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Data Engineering to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions that improve performance, observability, security, and scalability.
• Champion best practices such as CI/CD, TDD, pair programming, and code reviews.
• Implement cloud‑native infrastructure using AWS serverless services (Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, etc.).

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience, with strong backend expertise in Python (required) and Ruby (nice‑to‑have).
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
