Senior Red Team Cybersecurity Specialist

About the role

The National Incident Response Team (NIRT) at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is seeking a Senior Red Team Cybersecurity Specialist to join its Adversary Emulation team. This remote position supports the Federal Reserve System by evaluating and strengthening the security posture of people, processes, and technology.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct covert exploitation of vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and weaknesses across systems, services, infrastructure, and applications.
• Design and execute red‑team attack scenarios, including AI‑powered tools and social‑engineering techniques.
• Collaborate with security professionals to deliver comprehensive security assessments and threat‑assessment reports.
• Identify and document security gaps before adversaries can exploit them.
• Participate in occasional on‑site meetings at a district reserve bank location within a two‑hour commute.

Required profile

• Proven experience in red‑team operations, adversary emulation, or penetration testing.
• Strong understanding of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
• Ability to think creatively and simulate realistic attack scenarios.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
