Senior Quality Test Engineer II

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Quality Test Engineer II to lead and coordinate software testing initiatives for Elsevier’s digital products. The role involves defining QA strategies, managing end‑to‑end service delivery, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality releases.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement QA processes, quality management systems and testing strategies.
• Plan, develop and execute test plans, test cases and automated test scripts for applications and databases.
• Oversee service delivery from ideation through design, development and testing.
• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, manage estimations, timelines and project tasks.
• Review deliverables for quality, manage project schedules, risks and use tools such as JIRA.
• Drive testing efficiency through automation, maintain test environments and support performance testing.
• Investigate root causes of defects and ensure alignment with business and technical requirements.
• Evaluate and implement cost‑effective testing tools and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in software testing, Scrum/Agile environments and automation architecture.
• Proven ability to work with TDD/BDD frameworks and to develop high‑level use cases.

Required skills

• Scrum and Agile testing methodologies.
• Automation frameworks such as Cypress and Jasmine.
• Test‑driven development (TDD) and behavior‑driven development (BDD).
• Programming languages: Java, JavaScript, Python.
• Database technologies: PostgreSQL (or similar).
• Containerization with Docker.
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins.
• Web servers: Tomcat, WebLogic, Jetty.
• Project tracking tools: JIRA.
