Senior Quality Engineer – Defense & Space

About the role

Moog’s Defense team in Salt Lake City is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality initiatives for missile and space contracts. You will work on‑site in a collaborative environment with a 9/80 schedule, providing technical expertise to ensure product compliance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Quality lead for assigned programs and contracts.
• Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, and government agencies to meet contractual requirements.
• Develop and evaluate cost‑effective inspection plans.
• Analyze contractual requirements and create program plans, procedures, and quality codes.
• Monitor progress of quality programs and drive initiatives.
• Identify root causes of chronic manufacturing or quality issues.
• Support failure analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and other improvement methods.
• Review suspect material and lead corrective‑action reviews.
• Assist inspection personnel and interfacing departments.
• Promote efficient, defect‑free production operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in engineering, analytical, or scientific field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum six years of experience in a quality‑focused environment; eight or more years preferred.
• Experience with AS9100, ISO9001, and AS9102 standards.
• Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Familiarity with Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
