Senior Proposal Development Specialist

About the role

The Senior Proposal Development Specialist provides pre‑award support to faculty and postdoctoral fellows at Georgetown University. The role focuses on preparing and submitting complex federal and non‑federal grant proposals, including program projects and training grants.

Key responsibilities

• Assist researchers in budgeting, form completion, and submission of grant proposals.
• Prepare and manage submissions for federal and non‑federal funding mechanisms.
• Identify, organize, and facilitate new, resubmission, and renewal proposals across the cluster.
• Provide leadership, training, and oversight to other proposal specialists within the cluster.
• Collaborate with the Associate Director, cluster staff, JORA proposal specialists, and other university offices to ensure compliance with sponsor and institutional policies.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in academic research administration.
• Expertise in electronic grant submissions through Grants.gov and other portals.
• Knowledge of federal (NIH, NSF, DOD, etc.) and non‑federal funding mechanisms.
• Familiarity with federal funding guidelines (2 CFR 200, FAR) and cost‑accounting standards.
• Proficiency with financial systems and budgeting in Excel.
• Ability to adapt to changing policies and establish clear processes.
