About the role

The Senior Project Manager – Community Planning will lead large‑scale urban and community planning initiatives for a hybrid consulting practice. Based in Oakland, the role blends project leadership, client stewardship, public engagement, and business development within a sustainability‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex community planning and urban development projects, including general plans, specific plans, and housing elements.
• Oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, and multi‑year delivery plans.
• Lead client communication and nurture long‑term relationships.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant and technical teams.
• Drive inclusive public engagement and stakeholder participation initiatives.
• Support proposal writing, business development, and marketing activities.
• Ensure all planning work integrates sustainability, equity, health, and resilience principles.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in urban or community planning.
• Proven track record managing general plans, housing elements, and related projects.
• Strong public engagement and stakeholder management background.
• Experience in consulting or public‑sector planning environments.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced consulting setting.
