Senior Procurement Manager – Photonics Platform

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Procurement Manager to lead sourcing, qualification and supplier development for advanced optical materials within its Photonics Platform Business. The role supports waveguide technologies and AR ecosystem initiatives, collaborating with global suppliers and cross‑functional R&D, engineering and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct supplier assessments, audits and qualifications for optical glass and crystalline substrates, maintaining compliance and regulatory standards.
• Develop and manage supplier scorecards, performance metrics and business reviews to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead strategic sourcing events (RFx), negotiate contracts and perform total‑cost‑of‑ownership analysis.
• Implement quality engineering tools such as APQP, PPAP, SPC, control plans, 8D and FMEA for waveguide components.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks, establish dual‑sourcing strategies and support AR market growth.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with optical glass and crystalline materials.
• Strong knowledge of upstream manufacturing processes and material yields.
• Proven ability to build and manage a high‑performance supplier base.

Required skills

• Optical glass and crystalline substrate sourcing.
• APQP, PPAP, SPC, control plans.
• Root‑cause analysis using 8D and FMEA.
• RFx execution and TCO/should‑cost modeling.
• Contract negotiation (MSA, SOW, NDA).
