Senior Preconstruction Manager – Commercial Construction

About the role

Our client, a nationally recognized commercial general contractor, is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to lead multiple complex commercial projects. The role oversees the full preconstruction lifecycle, collaborates with owners, architects and operations, and mentors a team of preconstruction professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts across several projects and multidisciplinary teams with minimal oversight.
• Develop feasibility studies, conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, value‑engineering options and comparative analyses.
• Manage the complete preconstruction lifecycle from early design through final bid documents.
• Prepare and analyze pricing proposals using market data, escalation factors, historical costs and subcontractor input.
• Coordinate closely with owners, architects, consultants and internal operations teams.
• Support the transition of projects from preconstruction to construction execution.
• Mentor and develop Preconstruction Managers, Assistant Managers and Project Engineers.
• Participate in hiring, performance management and professional development of preconstruction staff.
• Present proposals to clients and assist in pursuit activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field (preferred).
• 7+ years of commercial construction experience with a strong focus on preconstruction and estimating.
• Proven track record as lead preconstruction manager on multiple $10M‑$300M projects.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing preconstruction teams.
• Experience with data‑center, advanced manufacturing (clean rooms, pharmaceutical) or healthcare projects is highly valued.
