Senior Power Automation Engineer - Data Center

About the role

ETAP is looking for a Senior Power Automation Engineer to lead the commissioning, operation, and support of real‑time microgrid control and power‑management systems for hyperscale and colocation data‑center customers. The role combines on‑site testing, client interaction, and lifecycle support of a proprietary automation platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on‑site commissioning, integrated testing, energization, and final acceptance of microgrid control and power‑management systems.
• Configure, test, and troubleshoot master controllers and field automation controllers (SEL RTAC, Orion LX, ETAP iCE) at device and system levels.
• Interpret, validate, and modify IEC 61131‑3 control logic (Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Function Blocks) to resolve field issues.
• Set up and verify communications across the control architecture, including Modbus (TCP/serial), DNP3 (TCP/serial), and IEC 61850 GOOSE.
• Provide post‑commissioning support, acting as the primary contact for clients, commissioning agents, and utilities.
• Collaborate closely with ETAP product and engineering teams to feed back field observations into design improvements.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience with real‑time automation platforms and microgrid control in data‑center environments.
• Proven ability to conduct on‑site commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of IEC 61131‑3 programming standards and industrial communication protocols.
• Willingness to travel up to 50 % of the time, especially during the first two years.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid setting (on‑site and remote).
