Senior Platform Engineer - Database Admin

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer specialized in database administration to support and evolve its enterprise‑wide database environments. You will work closely with the Data Architecture team, providing expert guidance, designing highly available solutions, and ensuring operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and install new database instances and review existing setups for improvement.
• Implement backup strategies, perform upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance.
• Design and execute data migration and database‑wide architecture projects.
• Provide production‑level support and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Collaborate with RDBMS vendors, application teams, and developers.
• Lead best‑practice adoption and contribute to technology roadmaps.
• Represent Data Architecture in high‑level planning and long‑term strategy discussions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and collaborative mindset.
• Experience leading database initiatives and influencing architectural direction.

Required skills

• Oracle Database administration (including RAC, 12c features, and clustering).
• Oracle middleware tools: OEM, ODI, OWB, APEX.
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL coding and tuning.
• Backup/recovery and partitioning implementation.
• Data migration and integration across multiple systems.
• Working knowledge of RDBMS vendor support processes.
