Senior P&C Compliance Specialist

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a solutions‑driven Senior P&C Compliance Specialist to lead U.S. employment compliance. This role will shift the organization from a reactive to a proactive, audit‑ready compliance posture.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end I‑9 program, set policy, conduct reverifications, and serve as final checkpoint before new‑hire submissions.
• Design and deliver training for I‑9 verification teams and conduct regular internal audits.
• Manage the U.S. background screening program, vendor relationships, and Workday ↔ HireRight integration.
• Maintain a living compliance matrix for federal, state, and local employment laws and partner with payroll on wage‑and‑hour compliance.
• Serve as the focal point for EEO/EEOC reporting, California pay data reporting, and coordinate responses to EEOC audits.
• Establish internal audit cadence, manage compliance vendors, and identify automation opportunities.
• Oversee policy and handbook updates, maintain a central repository, and communicate changes to employees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–8+ years of experience in employment compliance, I‑9/E‑Verify, background screening, and EEO/EEOC reporting.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of I‑9, E‑Verify, and work authorization processes.
• Experience with background screening regulations (FCRA) and vendor management.
• Proficiency with Workday and HireRight integration.
• Ability to develop compliance training, audits, and reporting dashboards.
