Senior Paralegal

About the role

The Senior Paralegal will support NYIC Legal’s network of immigration services across New York State, focusing on vulnerable immigrant populations. Reporting to the Senior/Staff Attorney, the role combines direct client assistance, project coordination, and staff mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support complex projects such as legal clinics, trainings, and rapid‑response initiatives.
• Assist clients (in‑person and remotely) with pro se immigration applications, act as a notary, and gather required documentation.
• Organize case files, ensure accurate data tracking, conduct audits, and maintain compliance with privacy policies.
• Contribute to onboarding, training, and ongoing support of Legal Assistants and contract staff.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of immigration legal experience under a licensed attorney.
• Bilingual English‑Spanish speaker with strong attention to detail and deadline management.
• Ability to travel throughout New York State and work onsite four days a week.
• Legal‑related education (Bachelor’s or post‑secondary program) and DOJ Accredited Representative status preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Workspace.
• Familiarity with Asana project‑management tool.
• Active NYS Notary Public license (advantage).
