Senior Optical Systems Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer to join SYLUX’s development team in Goleta, California. The role focuses on developing optical‑based ADAS cameras, including thermal infrared sensors, to enhance vehicle perception in low‑visibility conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop optical system requirements and support customer RFQ responses.
• Identify and qualify new optics suppliers and improve calibration and image‑signal‑processing techniques.
• Verify product performance through analysis and hands‑on hardware testing.
• Apply problem‑solving methods to resolve issues during development and production.
• Drive the development and application of lower‑cost optics technologies to reduce overall system cost.

Required profile

• 10+ years experience developing optical systems for automotive or high‑quality camera applications, including optical designs, lens component specifications, sourcing and testing.
• MS or Ph.D. in Optics, Physics, or Systems Engineering.
• Expertise with optical design tools.
• Experience in high‑volume camera manufacturing, validation, PPAP, safe‑launch and 8D troubleshooting processes.
• Familiarity with alternate optics technologies such as metalenses and multi‑level diffractive optics.
• Travel requirement less than 10%.
