Senior Merchant Underwriter

About the role

Coinflow is seeking a Senior Merchant Underwriter to lead critical analyses of merchant applications. You will evaluate licensing, legal opinions, transaction activity, and credit risk, making independent decisions for standard applications and advising on high‑risk sectors such as crypto, real‑money gaming, and remittance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess new merchant applications for legal compliance, card‑scheme rules, and Coinflow’s risk appetite, including credit reviews.
• Conduct refresher reviews of the existing portfolio, updating licenses, legal opinions, and financial statements.
• Investigate chargeback spikes, ACH returns, and other risk indicators.
• Drive process‑improvement and tooling projects to scale the underwriting program.
• Lead regulatory and scheme adaptation initiatives for emerging requirements.
• Define risk‑mitigation conditions such as reserves, transaction limits, or enhanced monitoring.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Operations to build scalable underwriting solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of underwriting experience in fintech, payments, banking, or financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate credit risk and make independent approval decisions.
• Experience handling high‑risk merchant categories and regulatory compliance.
