Senior Medical Science Liaison – Rheumatology (Lake Erie Region)

About the role

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will serve as the field‑based scientific expert for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines in the Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio territory. The role focuses on rheumatology, providing balanced, non‑promotional scientific information to healthcare professionals and supporting internal medical strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a scientific engagement plan aligned with Medical Affairs strategy and core medical assets.
• Engage in two‑way scientific exchange with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers, identifying trends, unmet needs, and educational gaps.
• Provide fair‑balanced, evidence‑based scientific data tailored to HCP needs through presentations and discussions.
• Collect and submit high‑quality actionable insights to inform medical strategy and cross‑functional planning.
• Support investigator‑initiated studies by facilitating scientific exchange and connecting investigators with internal research processes.
• Collaborate compliantly with internal stakeholders, including R&D, Global Medical Affairs, clinical operations, and, where appropriate, sales and marketing teams.

Required profile

• Doctorate‑level degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) with post‑graduate therapeutic clinical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Medical Science Liaison, demonstrating scientific acumen and successful territory management.
• Ability to travel up to 70 % of the time within the assigned territory.
• Strong communication skills for scientific exchange and the ability to critically evaluate emerging data.
