Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Space Vehicles

About the role

Moog’s Space Vehicles Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, update, and support of existing spacecraft product lines and new mission capabilities. The role is based in Arvada, CO and operates on a hybrid schedule, combining on‑site collaboration with remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and modify mechanical requirements and designs for new and existing spacecraft hardware.
• Create and review CAD models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks and Siemens NX, adhering to ANSI drafting standards.
• Participate in proposal development, external solicitations, and gate reviews, translating engineering analyses into clear trade‑space communications.
• Collaborate with business development, engineering, and production teams to ensure design for manufacturability and compliance with GD&T.
• Support testing, validation, and documentation of spacecraft components, including quality and safety processes.

Required profile

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least ten years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in aerospace or related high‑tech environments.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting complex technical topics.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D parametric CAD tools: SolidWorks and Siemens NX.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ANSI drafting standards.
• Experience with Siemens TeamCenter configuration management.
• Design for Manufacturability expertise.
