Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Zeno Power is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to advance the development of Radioisotope Power Systems for demanding applications ranging from the ocean floor to lunar missions. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to design, test, and manufacture critical fuel and structural components.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with structural, thermal, and nuclear teams to create and optimize power system and tooling designs.
• Generate 3D models, support analyses, and produce detailed drawings following ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Coordinate vendor activities, oversee fabrication, and conduct inspections to ensure project execution.
• Participate in a broad range of RPS‑related systems, including assembly fixtures, test rigs, and custom machines.

Required profile

• B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of experience in nuclear, aerospace, or comparable hardware design.
• Proven ability to work independently and within a team under minimal direction.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T implementation (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience with hot‑cell tooling or remote handling equipment.
• Familiarity with quality standards such as NQA‑1 or AS 9100.
