Senior Manager Packaging Engineering

About the role

Amgen is hiring a Senior Manager Packaging Engineering to lead a team of engineers supporting commercial secondary packaging operations for final and WIP product presentations. Reporting to the Director of Commercial Secondary Packaging and based in Ohio, the role ensures reliable, compliant and efficient packaging processes that meet ongoing commercial supply demands. It sets priorities and direction for the packaging organization, drives operational excellence and works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and Maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of packaging engineers and resolve production issues promptly
• Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis for deviations and implement effective CAPAs
• Improve packaging line performance through equipment reliability, process robustness and efficiency
• Own packaging configurations, specifications and the qualified state of commercial products
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and inspection readiness with Manufacturing, Quality and External Supply
• Lead continuous improvement to reduce downtime, waste and variability
• Support change control, including packaging updates, material changes and process improvements across internal and external sites
• Manage resources and priorities to meet production schedules and provide regular updates to site leadership
• Provide technical oversight to external partners and suppliers

Required profile

• One of: doctorate with 2 years of engineering, materials science or industrial design experience; master's with 6 years; bachelor's with 8 years; associate's with 10 years; or high school diploma/GED with 12 years
• Minimum 2 years of direct people management and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects or programs
