Senior Manager, Facilities Maintenance Operations

About the role

American Airlines is seeking a Senior Manager to lead facilities maintenance for its Eastern Region and spoke stations. The role oversees planning, budgeting, service contracts, space management, safety and regulatory compliance, and works closely with technical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize projects to ensure essential support systems remain functional.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for building support systems—including Fire Suppression, Baggage Handling System, Pre‑Conditioned Air, kVAs and Jetbridges—and provide on‑call support 24/7/365.
• Develop project timelines, goals and escalation procedures for technical issues.
• Build annual capital and management plans for each facility.
• Manage the Request For Proposal (RFP) process and negotiate vendor maintenance contracts.
• Partner with Corporate Real Estate, Finance, local airport authorities and station management to share information, develop standards and maintain consistency.
• Identify cost‑saving and efficiency opportunities through supplier utilization.
• Apply preventative maintenance schedules and maintain accurate records of work, parts, materials and labor costs.
• Develop and monitor annual expense plans and budgets.
• Support learning program deployment, including curriculum creation and training assignments.
• Lead investigative and corrective actions, reporting violations and compliance progress.
• Collaborate with labor organizations per the Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Manage staff across multiple work locations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing facilities maintenance teams in a large, regulated environment.
• Strong project forecasting, budgeting and cost‑control skills.
• Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, including real estate, finance and airport authorities.
• Experience with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations.
• Demonstrated leadership across multiple sites and on‑call availability.
