Senior Maintenance Technician / Electrician - Nights

About the role

Amgen is hiring a Senior Maintenance Technician / Electrician for its ARI site, working nights on a 12-hour rotating D shift (7PM-7AM). The role covers electrical systems operation and maintenance, with an onboarding period of 2-6 weeks on an administrative Monday-to-Friday schedule. Shift workers receive a 15% shift differential and premium pay for Sundays worked.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain electrical power generation and distribution systems, and backup/emergency power and UPS systems
• Troubleshoot, repair and install electrical equipment and systems
• Support building fire alarm systems, including operation, disabling points and troubleshooting
• Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance and repairs on complex equipment across the site
• Identify equipment performance opportunities and recommend improvements to maintenance program owners
• Complete work orders accurately, communicate issues and updates to system operators and stakeholders, and follow SOPs and cGMPs
• Work safely, efficiently and with quality, and stay flexible to support outside normal hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

Required profile

• Basic: high school/GED plus 2 years of electrical systems or maintenance work or military experience, or associate's degree plus 6 months of such work or military experience
• Preferred: Rhode Island Journeyperson Electrician B license or Maintenance M license (or ability to obtain the electrician license)
• Preferred: 5+ years of electrical and utilities systems and industrial mechanic experience, and experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
• Preferred: knowledge of boiler operation and experience in a highly regulated function

Required skills

• Preferred: operation and maintenance of industrial electrical generation and power distribution systems (12,470 / 480 / 208 / 120 volts)
• Preferred: ability to read electrical drawings, P&ID's and wiring diagrams
• Preferred: Maximo computerized maintenance management system
• Preferred: proven equipment troubleshooting skills and strong written and verbal communication
