Senior Lead Software Engineer – Python (Front Office)

About the role

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer you will join JPMorgan Chase’s Commercial & Investment Bank team, working on the Athena platform – a global risk‑management and trading system used by traders, salespeople and operations staff. You will collaborate with Quantitative Research, Structuring, Trading, Sales and Middle‑Office colleagues to deliver high‑quality, secure code that supports fast‑moving business opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Own and deliver end‑to‑end projects within the global Athena program.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional technology teams to design and implement solutions that meet user needs.
• Write, review and debug secure, production‑grade code in Python and Typescript.
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted engineering practices, including automated code review, testing and release readiness.
• Apply SDLC toolchain capabilities to scale automation and improve delivery speed.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert and influence architectural decisions across the platform.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with at least 5 years of hands‑on experience.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑quality, well‑tested solutions in a controlled environment.
• Experience building performant, large‑scale systems using object‑oriented or functional languages.
• Willingness to deepen expertise in the Athena platform and emerging AI‑assisted tools.
