Senior IT Advanced Analytics & Data Solutions Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering, is seeking a senior professional to design, build, and support advanced Business Intelligence, Big Data and AI/ML solutions that enable cross‑functional business insights. The role will operate within the Santa Clara office and collaborate with multiple business units and GIS domains.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the interface between business sub‑groups and GIS domains to align BI, big data and AI/ML technology strategy, solution discovery, and project portfolio management.
• Architect and design complex BI, big data and AI/ML solutions, translating designs into functional and technical specifications.
• Oversee software application and platform development, including unit, integration, performance and acceptance testing, as well as data conversions.
• Provide and manage BI, big data and AI/ML application support to meet performance, availability, SLA and customer satisfaction targets.
• Monitor and tune specific IT systems for optimal availability and performance, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Plan and manage medium to large‑scale BI, big data or AI/ML projects, ensuring scope, timeline, budget and quality compliance.
• Manage contingent workers delivering BI, big data and AI/ML services, handling onboarding, task assignments and timesheet approvals.

Required profile

• Demonstrated depth of expertise in Business Intelligence, Big Data or AI/ML disciplines.
• Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best‑practice solutions.
• Experience leading functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk and complexity.
• Proven capability to lead others in solving complex problems using sophisticated analytical thinking.
• Strong communication skills to convey difficult concepts and negotiate alternative viewpoints.
