Senior HVAC Designer (Contract)

About the role

This contract position supports the Design Area Lead by delivering high‑quality HVAC designs and 3D layouts of moderate scope. The Senior Designer will work under detailed instructions, applying advanced technical knowledge to create and review engineering drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 2D CAD drawings and 3D models (S3D preferred) for HVAC systems.
• Interpret and generate design drawings with minimal supervision.
• Conduct field walk‑downs, produce advanced design details, and modify existing drawings.
• Direct, check, and approve work performed by other designers.
• Prepare estimates, schedules, staffing plans, progress reports, and material take‑off analyses.
• Review vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local codes, including DOE orders for nuclear applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Significant experience in HVAC design, preferably in nuclear environments.
• Background in drafting or design across engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Ten years of relevant experience combined with appropriate education.

Required skills

• Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) proficiency.
• 3D modeling experience (S3D preferred).
• HVAC design and nuclear HVAC expertise.
• Material take‑off and bulk quantity analysis.
• Code compliance and standards interpretation.
• Drafting across multiple engineering disciplines.
