Senior Gauge Design and Dimensional Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group in Salt Lake City is seeking a Senior Gauge Design and Dimensional Engineer to serve as the technical expert for GD&T and functional gaging in the Missiles business unit. The role focuses on improving inspection efficiency, reducing quality disruptions, and lowering production costs for supplied parts.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert in GD&T and functional gauge design.
• Interpret and apply ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.43 to ensure parts are measurable, inspectable, and functionally appropriate.
• Design, review, and improve custom gauges, fixtures, and related tooling used for production inspection and hardware evaluation.
• Provide technical guidance on drawing interpretation, conformance, inspection feasibility, and dimensional disposition.
• Partner with engineering, quality, inspection, manufacturing, and suppliers to enhance dimensional quality, inspection methods, and manufacturability.
• Identify opportunities to improve drawings, tolerancing, and inspection approaches for existing and new products.
• Deliver technical coaching and training in GD&T and gauge design.
• Support technical definition quality within drawing review and release workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field preferred; equivalent advanced technical training and directly relevant experience will be considered.
• 2+ years of relevant experience, including significant experience in gauge design, dimensional engineering, tooling design, metrology, and manufacturing.
