Senior Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E.

About the role

EFI Global, a full-service engineering, fire investigation, environmental, health and safety and specialty consulting firm, is hiring a Senior Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E., in the greater St. Louis area. The role covers forensic engineering, structural damage assessment and failure analysis across commercial, residential and industrial buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Assign engineers to client losses in the assigned area of responsibility and manage quality control.
• Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings.
• Investigate and document the scope of damage and determine the cause of structural failures.
• Provide guidance and leadership on complex losses and implement engineering strategies within the team.
• Collaborate with investigators to produce detailed reports on the cause and origin of losses and damages.
• Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions.
• Document and maintain billable hours for failure analysis and forensic engineering projects.
• Collaborate with EFI's national team of forensic experts on projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of residence.
• Eight years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Experience investigating and assessing structural failures, storm and roof damage, building envelope investigations and structural collapses.

Required skills

• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and to meet performance competencies.
