Senior Financial Analyst - Orthopaedic Surgery

About the role

The Orthopaedic Surgery department at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is hiring a full-time Senior Financial Analyst. Working under general supervision, the analyst provides skilled financial analysis, prepares monthly financial reports and annual schedules, maintains financial system controls and develops procedures for financial processes. The salary is commensurate with education, skills and relevant experience.

Key responsibilities

• Complete complex monthly financial management reports, review them for errors and inconsistencies, analyze variances between forecasts and actual performance, determine causes and recommend improvements.
• Prepare and supervise the preparation of monthly reports, annual schedules and reports to government agencies, ensuring compliance with University of Texas System and federal and state regulations.
• Identify areas of poor performance, present findings and make recommendations to upper management.
• Prepare financial models and conduct financial analyses.
• Maintain controls for policies and procedures of the financial system, including delegation of authority for check requests, refunds, invoice approvals and bad debt write-offs.
• Complete complex special projects as requested and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or another related field.
• 4 years of progressively responsible experience in finance and/or accounting, including planning, forecasting and financial analysis.

Required skills

• High level of precision in work.
• Sound judgment in interpreting policy and applying procedures.
• Knowledge of complex financial analysis and forecasting procedures.
