Senior Equipment Engineer

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear microreactors, is seeking a Senior Equipment Engineer to lead the design and development of custom production equipment for its Kaleidos micro‑reactor system. The role works closely with design and manufacturing teams to create tools that enable mass‑production, fueling and defueling of the reactors.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with design and manufacturing engineers to create innovative production equipment for fabricating and assembling complex mechanisms and structures.
• Design, analyze, and fabricate equipment that supports semi‑remote fueling/defueling operations of the reactor.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for components and fabrication services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing or a related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical equipment design and multi‑component assembly fabrication using CAD (NX or similar).
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) applied to fabrication drawings.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed and to be 100 % onsite.

Required skills

• NX (or comparable) CAD software.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand‑calculation methods.
• Custom machine design, including electromechanical systems, motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings, and lifting/rigging solutions.
