Senior Electrical Systems Engineer

About the role

Join a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to shape the future of electric vehicles. As a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer you will lead the development of vehicle electrical hardware and architecture across multiple domains, working directly with an Engineering Manager in our Irvine office.

Key responsibilities

• Support feature development from user stories to system‑level architecture, collaborating with domain and software teams.
• Own hardware system requirements and design, ensuring successful implementation down to component level.
• Develop and execute verification and validation test plans and procedures.
• Apply first‑principles electrical engineering and physics to create innovative, cost‑effective solutions.
• Analyze new technology options and conduct trade‑studies for alternative designs.
• Define work scope proactively and mentor junior team members as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• 4+ years of industry experience in electrical engineering and systems design.
• Strong ability to dive deep into electrical first principles and work in fast‑paced environments.
• Proficiency reading electrical schematics and wiring/distribution diagrams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for translating complex technical topics.
