Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Radiant, a startup developing portable nuclear microreactors, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and implementation of electrical control and measurement systems for its Kaleidos reactor. The role spans the full product lifecycle, from requirements capture to field operation, and requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial electrical control hardware, including schematics, wiring diagrams, harnesses, and integration assemblies.
• Lead the creation of fault‑tolerant, safety‑critical electrical systems, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and review electrical interface designs between control systems, power equipment, and instrumentation.
• Perform SCCR and Arc Flash calculations and verify compliance with NFPA, NEC, and other applicable codes.
• Collaborate with reactor core, fluid heat‑transfer, and structural teams to integrate electrical solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing electrical hardware for industrial applications.
• Proven experience with fault‑tolerant and safety‑critical system design.
• Hands‑on experience selecting, integrating, and troubleshooting a variety of sensors.

Required skills

• Ethernet, EtherCAT, Modbus, CANbus, RS‑422 communication protocols.
• AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken or comparable schematic and wiring design tools.
• Industrial power systems (120 VAC, 208 VAC, 480 VAC) and related safety practices.
• Design and analysis of fault‑tolerant hardware, SCCR, and Arc Flash calculations.
• Knowledge of NFPA and NEC electrical codes.
