Senior EHS Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior EHS Specialist to join BASF’s Care Chemicals team in Spartanburg, SC. The role focuses on environmental compliance and occupational safety, ensuring our operations meet all corporate and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and regulatory expertise to guarantee EHS compliance at the site.
• Manage federal, state, and local environmental programs, including air, waste, and water compliance (LDAR, Title V, PSM/RMP, RCRA, EPCRA, SPCC).
• Act as the primary point of contact for EPA, SCDES, and other regulatory agencies.
• Collaborate with site management, employees, and the EHS community to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support the implementation of the Responsible Care® Management System and corporate EHS policies such as Safe Work Permits and Job Safety Analyses.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in environmental compliance and occupational safety.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. environmental regulations and ability to interact with regulators.
• Proven leadership in driving continuous improvement of EHS programs.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
