Senior Director Engineering - Drug Substance, Single-Use and Infrastructure

About the role

Amgen is looking for a Senior Director, Engineering Technical Authority covering Drug Substance, Single-Use and infrastructure. It is a global role focused on the global Drug Substance network, providing technical leadership, setting technical direction and ensuring consistent support across capital projects, lifecycle asset management and network initiatives. The position is the main engineering interface for front-end planning and leads the evolution of the Engineering Technical Authority organization.

Key responsibilities

• Set technical direction and align engineering strategies, standards and practices across projects, sites and network priorities
• Lead the organization responsible for Drug Substance SMEs, project engineers, Single-Use leadership, Engineering Technical Leads and global network coordination
• Deploy engineering resources to support capital projects, lifecycle asset management and network initiatives
• Drive alignment of technical knowledge, lessons learned, standards and best practices across the network
• Support troubleshooting, reliability improvement, failure analysis and non-conformance response
• Take part in front-end planning and shape project strategy, scope, technical options and engineering engagement
• Lead engineering support across planning, design, construction, commissioning, qualification and start-up
• Coach direct reports, strengthen technical depth and succession capability, and partner with site leaders, capital project teams, operations, quality and process development
• Represent Amgen with external firms, technical societies and regulatory bodies as needed

Required profile

• Doctorate in Engineering with 5 years of engineering experience, or Master's with 9 years, or Bachelor's with 11 years
• At least 5 years of direct people management and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects or programs
• Preferred: Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree with life science experience
• Preferred: significant experience with biologics Drug Substance manufacturing facilities and Single-Use systems
