Senior Design Drafter

About the role

Moog is seeking a Senior Design Drafter to join its Space and Defense Group in Buffalo, NY. You will work on cutting‑edge motion‑control products, translating concepts into detailed engineering drawings and 3D models while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with engineering, sales, and program management to gather design and fabrication requirements.
• Lead the graphical development of new products from layout to final drawings, ensuring correct proportions, component arrangement, and material suggestions.
• Produce final 2D drawings and 3D/Solid models independently or with teammates.
• Utilize CAD software to create visualizations, clearance checks, and manufacturing data for CAM operations.
• Support bid and proposal efforts by delivering quick layout and assembly packages.
• Organize and plan drawing sets, review detail drawings for completeness, and oversee drafting quality.
• Coordinate project schedules, direct drafting resources when needed, and provide effort estimates in status meetings.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Mechanical Technology or a related field.
• 3+ years of drafting/design leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience as a technical lead or SME for drafting standards and best practices.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior and mid‑level drafters.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• 3D modeling and solid modeling expertise.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and drawing quality control.
• Familiarity with CAM processes and manufacturing documentation.
