Senior Data Scientist – AI for Science & Research

About the role

As a Senior Data Scientist you will design, build, evaluate and scale advanced AI solutions that power scientific discovery, research intelligence and knowledge enrichment across a global research ecosystem. You will apply cutting‑edge machine learning, natural language processing and generative AI to make scientific knowledge more discoverable, trustworthy and actionable.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy advanced ML, NLP, retrieval and generative AI solutions for scientific discovery.
• Build and optimise LLM‑powered applications such as question answering, literature summarisation, semantic search and evidence‑grounded AI experiences.
• Create retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) systems that connect AI models with trusted scholarly content.
• Integrate knowledge graphs, ontologies, taxonomies, citations and metadata into AI workflows.
• Define evaluation frameworks measuring quality, relevance, reliability, grounding and user impact.
• Partner with engineering teams to monitor, optimise and continuously improve production AI systems.

Required profile

• Deep technical expertise in AI and data science applied to scientific domains.
• Strong scientific rigor and sound judgement for translating complex problems into production‑ready solutions.
• Proven ability to deliver measurable impact at scale.
• Senior‑level experience leading AI projects from concept to deployment.
