Senior Data Engineer III

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer III at Capital Group, you will ensure the stability, resilience and reliability of production data platforms and products across the group's data ecosystem. You will build and operate monitoring, automation and observability capabilities so that issues are detected early and resolved quickly, partnering with data product, engineering and platform teams to turn operational insights into better engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Own the operational health, availability and reliability of production data platforms and pipelines
• Design and implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions, and lead incident response, triage and resolution
• Conduct root cause analysis and postmortems, and define and track SLAs/SLOs
• Build end-to-end monitoring, data quality rules, controls and validation frameworks, and automate health checks
• Support and optimize existing pipelines and platforms, and contribute to operational readiness for new data products
• Create and maintain runbooks, documentation and support procedures
• Establish feedback loops between operations and engineering, and advocate for resilience, observability and automation
• Collaborate with product, platform, governance and business stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers

Required profile

• Strong operational mindset focused on stability, resilience and rapid issue resolution
• Advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis, and ability to translate production insights into improvements
• Experience in cross-functional teams and strong communication, especially during incidents
• Preferred: understanding of financial services or asset management data, securities, portfolios, transactions and pricing data, and awareness of regulatory, compliance and governance requirements
