Senior Data Engineer (Hybrid)

About the role

Equinox, a luxury health, wellness and hospitality group, is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for its technology team in New York. The role builds and evolves the data platform, business applications and integration tools, and shapes the data strategy so that solutions are scalable, reliable and secure. It is a hybrid position based in the NYC office, with four days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable data architecture, pipelines and modeling strategies for the enterprise data warehouse on AWS
• Build and manage data models and schemas in Redshift and other data technologies, enabling self-service analytics
• Monitor, optimize and troubleshoot data jobs to ensure high availability and performance
• Implement data quality checks, validation rules and alerting mechanisms
• Use AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, S3, Athena and EMR to build modular, reusable data solutions
• Partner with Data Science, Analytics and Business teams to understand data needs and deliver reliable datasets and models
• Improve data lineage, cataloging and documentation, and maintain technical documentation and version-controlled workflows (Git, dbt)
• Take part in sprint planning, code reviews and retrospectives within an Agile process, and mentor peers

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in software or data engineering, with a proven track record of building robust data systems; prior leadership or mentorship is a plus
• Expertise in enterprise data warehouses, including star schemas and dimensional modeling
• Strong SQL, with Python a strong plus
• Experience with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
• Knowledge of data governance, quality assurance and observability tools
• Ability to take ownership and drive solutions from design to deployment
