Senior Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Everforth ECS Federal partners with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to protect critical systems and sensitive data for millions of veterans. As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer you will lead technical security initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive strategic planning to safeguard VA information.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain zero‑trust architectures across cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, threat analysis, and rapid incident response to minimize downtime.
• Develop and enforce security policies, ensuring alignment with NIST, ISO, SOC 2, FISMA, HIPAA, and FedRAMP standards.
• Collaborate with VA stakeholders, architects, and project managers to meet VA‑specific security requirements.
• Automate security tasks, vulnerability scanning, and log analysis using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Monitor and analyze security events with tools such as Elastic, Splunk, Wireshark, Kali Linux, and Invicti.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen eligible for a Tier 5 (critical sensitive national security) background investigation.
• 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, preferably within federal or VA environments.
• Proven experience securing enterprise networks, cloud platforms, and hybrid architectures.
• Strong track record of designing secure system architectures and leading security initiatives.
