Senior Cost Manager / Estimator – General Construction

About the role

We are seeking a senior‑level Cost Manager / Estimator to head our Cost Management practice in New York City. The role blends technical estimating expertise with leadership and client advisory responsibilities, working directly with owners, developers and investors on complex construction projects across the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating and cost‑management department.
• Mentor, coach and develop Project Engineers and Estimators.
• Balance departmental workload, staffing and project priorities.
• Prepare conceptual budgets and detailed cost estimates for all design phases.
• Produce schematic, design‑development, GMP and final construction estimates.
• Develop accurate quantity take‑offs from plans, specifications and conceptual information.
• Establish and maintain estimating standards, QA/QC procedures and best practices.
• Maintain and enhance the firm’s historical cost database.
• Review and reconcile change orders and cost impacts.
• Lead subcontractor and supplier pricing efforts and manage bid solicitation and proposal evaluation.

Required profile

• Significant experience in senior cost‑management or estimating roles within general construction.
• Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and value engineering.
• Excellent communication skills for client advisory and stakeholder coordination.

Required skills
