Senior Computing Infrastructure Administrator – Massive Data Institute

About the role

The Massive Data Institute (MDI) at Georgetown University seeks a senior professional to design, deploy, and maintain its cloud‑based and on‑premise computing environment. You will enable faculty, staff, and students to conduct interdisciplinary research by providing reliable, secure, and cost‑effective infrastructure across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, provision, and manage big‑data infrastructure on Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure.
• Maintain and expand the on‑campus high‑performance computing (HPC) cluster, including physical servers, virtualization, and storage systems.
• Implement identity management, cost‑monitoring, and security controls to meet HIPAA and FERPA compliance requirements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to MDI faculty and research teams.
• Develop and document technical strategies, processes, and compliance monitoring procedures.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in a relevant technical field.
• Proven experience administering cloud infrastructure and on‑premise HPC environments.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary research teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical documentation and user support.
