Senior Cloud Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to help build the next‑generation cloud data ecosystem that processes petabytes of data and powers AI‑driven insights for global brands. You will work within the Marketing Services Technology team to transform a legacy Hadoop environment into a modern, cloud‑native architecture on AWS and Databricks.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support large‑scale cloud‑native data solutions on AWS and Databricks.
• Build and maintain batch, streaming, and real‑time pipelines for analytics, reporting, machine learning, and AI workloads.
• Engineer scalable distributed processing systems using Apache Spark and related Big Data technologies.
• Implement modern lakehouse architectures with Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg.
• Lead migration of data workloads from on‑prem Hadoop platforms to cloud‑native solutions.
• Create reusable frameworks and patterns to improve scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to define cloud data solutions.
• Evaluate technologies for data ingestion, transformation, storage, governance, and consumption.
• Apply best practices for security, performance, observability, cost management, and automation using IaC and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with modern cloud platforms and large‑scale Big Data systems.
• Proven ability to design and implement cloud‑native data architectures.
• Strong understanding of distributed data processing and lakehouse concepts.
• Experience leading migration projects from Hadoop to cloud environments.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with technical and product teams.
