Senior Category Manager – Strategic Procurement

About the role

Our client in Downtown Houston is seeking a Senior Category Manager to lead strategic procurement and sourcing initiatives across key spend categories. The role combines category strategy development, supplier negotiation, and data‑driven decision making to deliver cost savings and value creation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category management and strategic sourcing strategies for major spend areas.
• Lead supplier negotiations, contract management and monitor vendor performance.
• Analyze spend data and procurement trends to identify cost‑saving and value‑creation opportunities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
• Build reporting tools, dashboards and insights to support procurement decision‑making.
• Drive process improvements across procurement and purchasing operations, including procure‑to‑pay initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, procurement or supply chain.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven experience using data to support sourcing strategy and business recommendations.
