Senior Buyer / Planner (Hybrid – Buffalo, NY)

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group is seeking a Senior Buyer/Planner to support its East Aurora, NY operations. Working in a hybrid schedule, you will manage tactical procurement activities, negotiate with suppliers, and collaborate across engineering, quality, and program teams to ensure timely delivery of critical components.

Key responsibilities

• Place, expedite, and monitor purchase orders, ensuring delivery dates are met.
• Negotiate pricing, lead‑times, and contract terms to align with program budgets.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve quality, design, cost, and timing issues.
• Research cost‑reduction opportunities and evaluate alternate sources.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned programs.
• Maintain supplier relationships, manage performance metrics, and resolve issues.
• Prepare Sole Source Justification and Price Analysis documents in compliance with DFAR regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field (or Associate’s degree with 5 + years experience).
• Minimum 3 years of procurement/supply‑chain experience (or 5 years with an associate degree).
• Experience in a complex manufacturing environment; aerospace/defense background preferred.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, PO placement, and schedule management.
• Familiarity with FAR/DFAR regulations is strongly preferred.
