Senior Automation Engineer – Remote (US)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead testing and quality engineering for a large federal healthcare modernization project. The role is fully remote within the continental United States, with occasional travel to the Washington, DC area for onsite meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Define enterprise testing standards, procedures, tools, and comprehensive test plans.
• Design test coverage across functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and edge‑case scenarios.
• Develop and maintain automated test suites, validation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and continuous‑testing pipelines.
• Evaluate and apply AI‑assisted techniques for test‑case generation, coverage analysis, synthetic data creation, and defect investigation.
• Lead defect triage, root‑cause analysis, release‑readiness assessments, and traceability reporting.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, program managers, engineers, architects, product owners, and cybersecurity teams to improve system quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of experience leading testing for complex software applications.
• Hands‑on experience with test‑automation frameworks, testing tools, and defect‑management platforms.
• Proven ability to integrate automated testing into Agile and DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using AI‑assisted testing techniques.
