Senior Area Director

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Area Director to provide operational leadership across multiple markets, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role balances strategic oversight with hands-on field presence, partnering with the Regional Vice President and cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop Area Directors and Day Program Managers to build high-performing teams.
• Ensure safe, compliant, person-centered services across residential and day programs.
• Conduct regular site visits, coach leaders, and support operational success in the field.
• Champion quality, survey readiness, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive staffing excellence through hiring, onboarding, coaching and workforce planning.
• Collaborate with clinical, quality, HR, recruiting and operations teams to support census growth and client onboarding.
• Monitor program outcomes, identify trends and implement solutions to improve care and performance.
• Build strong relationships with families, community partners, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Healthcare or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• At least one year of direct experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience managing teams, operations, staffing and compliance.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and quality standards.
• Excellent communication, organizational and leadership abilities.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
