Senior Aircraft Paint Technician

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking an experienced Senior Aircraft Paint Technician to join its Columbus, MS facility. You will be responsible for preparing, painting, and inspecting aircraft components, ensuring every finish meets strict FAA and customer standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare parts for painting, including repairs, sanding, taping, and surface preparation.
• Perform initial inspections to capture any defects before paint application.
• Apply paint according to customer‑specified stripe layouts and specifications.
• Conduct post‑paint inspections and ensure compliance with FAA regulations, customer requirements, and company standards.
• Use a variety of hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices, and test equipment to complete tasks.
• Provide technical guidance and training to lower‑level employees.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in automotive or aviation paint operations.
• Strong ability to read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and standard shop practices.
• Proficiency in body work and basecoat/clear‑coat painting systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Physical ability to lift up to 60 lb, bend, stoop, squat, and work on ladders.
