Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our midtown Manhattan office. The role focuses on overseeing daily accounting operations for a fashion apparel, wholesale and retail business and supporting the finance leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations and ensure accurate journal entries.
• Compile and analyze monthly financial data, prepare journal entries and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, especially AR and inventory.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash‑flow statements.
• Support the Controller in month‑end close, identify critical items and assist with the monthly reporting package.
• Help prepare budgets and cash‑flow projections.
• Participate in external audits, prepare audit schedules and coordinate with auditors.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies and internal controls.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to special projects.
• Prepare and file tax and other administrative forms as needed.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the CFO, Controller and finance team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in apparel, wholesale, retail or manufacturing cost accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and reconciliation abilities.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑starter and able to work independently or within a team.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
