Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a long‑term contract in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The role will oversee the full accounting cycle for several business units, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support day‑to‑day operational accounting in a fast‑paced wholesale environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the complete accounting cycle for multiple entities, including journal entries, accruals and payroll adjustments.
• Partner with regional finance leaders to drive general‑ledger close and produce operational reports.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts such as receivables, payables, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany balances and accruals.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Oversee inventory accounting, record daily sales, track inventory movements and book cost‑of‑goods‑sold adjustments.
• Review cycle counts, mispick activity and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Monitor vendor pre‑payments, analyze aging schedules and coordinate invoice receipt.
• Support chart‑of‑accounts alignment, account mapping and structural setup across entities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of accounting experience with senior‑level responsibility for general ledger and month‑end close.
• Hands‑on experience in journal entries, account and bank reconciliations.
• Background in inventory accounting within wholesale or distribution.
• Proven ability to manage accounting across multiple entities.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, capable of working independently in a fast‑paced setting.
