Senior Accountant – HCV

About the role

Join the Georgia Department of Community Affairs as a Senior Accountant focused on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. You will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting the department’s mission to build strong, vibrant communities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare timely and accurate financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Reconcile general ledgers and sub‑ledgers and ensure completeness of financial data.
• Collaborate with finance and departmental staff to develop and manage budgets.
• Maintain internal controls over manual and software‑based accounting functions.
• Coordinate audit responses and provide information to auditors.
• Handle billing, reimbursements, inter‑program fund accounts, and related accounting activities.
• Liaise with accounting staff of partner entities to supply required financial information.
• Advise senior staff on the financial implications of management proposals.

Required profile

• Professional accounting experience with a strong understanding of GAAP.
• Demonstrated ability to reconcile ledgers and manage budgets.
• Experience maintaining internal controls and supporting audit processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
