Security Specialist – Protective Intelligence & Access Control

About the role

The Security Specialist will help create a safe environment for staff, patients, visitors, and volunteers at PPSE. Working closely with the Sr. Director of Security, the role oversees protective intelligence, threat assessment, and access‑control programs across the Atlanta area.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Protective Intelligence and Threat Assessment programs, including conducting assessments and proactive investigations.
• Manage the full badge access‑control lifecycle: issuance, tracking, monitoring, maintenance, and revocation of credentials and related equipment.
• Maintain accountability for security assets such as HID credentials, access‑control hardware, and security codes.
• Provide security‑related guidance to employees and end users, responding to system requests and emergent concerns.
• Develop and update security policies, procedures, and training materials as needed.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and investigative abilities.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel within Atlanta, Cobb, Gwinnett, and DeKalb counties.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance.
